When replacing garage door springs, We RECOMMEND using 2 springs instead of one! Why? Springs function as a counterweight for your garage door. Without them, the door would be far too heavy for you or your garage door opener to be able to lift. Many people have experienced having their car trapped within their garage because of a single spring setup breaking. If you choose to use 2 springs, then when one breaks the other is still a partial counterweight. So you need to, you can be able to lift the door under your own power to get out of your garage. You will not be trapped like the person that choose the single spring setup. |
Are all garage door openers created equal?
Their are 3 main types of garage door openers you can choose from. Chain Drive. Belt Drive. Screw Drive. All 3 have their own perks. Chain Drive are your basic garage door opener. They are the most inexpensive option and they are very reliable but they are noisy. If high noise level doesn't bother you or you are on a tight budget, this is the opener for you. Belt Drive openers are essential the upgraded Chain Drive. They function the same. But Belt Drives are more expensive but very quiet compared to it's aforementioned cousin. So if money is no object and you have an attached garage and would like a little peace and quiet. Belt Drives are for you. Screw Drive fall in the middle pricewise, and loudness wise. They function differently and require more general maintenance. But they often have more power and less breaking parts than other opener types so they tend to have a long lifespan. |
